What to expect when you join?

First, locate a Toastmasters club that matches your schedule and location. There is a valuable Find a Club web application at the Toastmasters International site to help you locate a convenient club.

Visit the clubs that interest you. Most clubs are open to anyone with an interest in communications and leadership amd will welcome you with open arms. You may contact them ahead of time or simply walk in at the start of the meeting. Either way, they’ll be glad to see you.

When you have decided to join a club, give your completed membership form and a check for joining the club to the club President or Vice President of Membership. Some clubs will formally vote you into the club and may even have a brief pinning ceremony.

Once you have joined your new club, you will receive your new training manuals within a few weeks from Toastmasters International. Your club's Vice President of Education will discuss the education program with you as well as getting you started on accomplishing speech and leadership projects.

You will be surprised at how quickly your speaking skills improve as you gain confidence through practice. Before long, you will be a veteran Toastmaster yourself and may find yourself mentoring another novice taking their first few steps.
