The DEC meeting convened at 6:01 PM on December 12, 2023, with the District Director presiding.
Members present were: Sarra Idehen, Annette Krause, Kandi Kutkas, Sameer Deshmukh, Deborah Whitman, Meg White, Madeline Armendariz-Odeh, Steven Schofield, Pamela Lattin, Christine Groberg, Al Kunz, Janine Donald, Bryan Dowdy, Jimmy Bell, George Kleeb, and Vy Nguyen.
Members absent were Trevor Nelson, Emily Lamoreaux, Lionel Furness, Debbie Crutchfield, Greg Alvord, Richard Carr, Peggy Carr, Jaysee Jimenez, Tammy McMorrow, David Garbrecht, Bryan Dowdy and Michael Hachigian.
The following items were discussed:
- Recap of Officer Training: 41 out of 58 clubs in the district had members attend training. Lone Peak Toastmasters had all seven club officers attend. Five clubs had 6 of 7 club officers attend. Suggestions: Record all sessions in January, add a rating evaluation (what went well, what can be improved), add Zoom master for each breakout session to do the recording.
- Area Reports Update: Division A – 100%, Division B – 100%, Area C1 – 100%, C2 – 75%, C3 – 100%, Area D1 – 100%, D2 – 25%, D3 – 100% and D4 – 40%
- Club Coach – New coaches – Christine Groberg, Apollo Moser to coach Taxmasters Club.
- Financial Report: October reserves $16,602.96. October rebound but still under budget. November not reconciled. Need some reimbursements identified and classified.
- State of the District – As of 12-11-2023, 44 paid clubs, our base number of clubs is 54. Seven clubs are almost Distinguished clubs, half of our clubs need coaches according to TI data. Ten clubs with fewer than 8 members. Clubs with low-minimum requirements cannot compete in speech contests, vote at district business meetings, vote at the annual business meeting, or participate in the Distinguished Club Program.
- Next 60 Days – o Begin second round of area visits – December 1
- Training for club officers – December 9, 2023
- District Leadership Committee – Call for officer nominations 1/15/24
- Club Speech Contests begin February 1
- Talk Up Toastmasters Membership Campaign begins February 1 – March 31
